PermeaDerm is a practical alternative to human cadaveric allograft for temporary wound coverage.1
Safe and effective for patients
Proven clinical performance as a temporizer.1 Mitigates concerns around cadaver skin disease transmission or cross-contamination.
Saves time for clinicians
No cold chain storage, thawing, or tissue tracking. PermeaDerm is easy to apply, transparent for at-a-glance wound assessment, and available in multiple sizes for a simplified workflow.1,2
Offers an economic advantage
Favorable pricing compared to a biologic (or other alternatives) with a dependable 5-year shelf life.3

How does
PermeaDerm work?
Built as a dual-layer construct, PermeaDerm balances protection, permeability, and mobility.
- Outer silicone layer facilitates oxygen and moisture exchange while shielding against bacteria and external trauma
- Inner collagen- and aloe-biocoated nylon layer adheres gently to the wound bed, supporting early patient movement.
Together, these layers create an optimal environment for temporizing.
Real-world outcomes: Patient case
Early discharge and successful temporization with PermeaDerm
Following surgical debridement, PermeaDerm was applied to the wound as a temporizing agent.
Highlights:
- Patient was discharged on day 3, eliminating the need for prolonged hospitalization
- Evaluation on day 9 revealed successful formation of granulation tissue
- PermeaDerm was removed and a meshed split-thickness skin graft was applied for definitive wound closure

Wound assessment with PermeaDerm
Survey
0-3 Days

Ensure no fluid pockets or loose areas
- Fenestrate bubbles, seromas, hematomas, or roll out fluid
- Trim loose areas
- Place non-adherent to open areas
Color
3-5 Days

Color stabilizes | 3-5 days post-application
- Pink/red = vascular, healthy
- White/yellow/brown/grey = non-vascular, not healthy
Adherence
3-5 Days

Is the matrix
adhered?
- Non-adherence may indicate non-incorporation and non-viable tissue
- Infection concern: suggest using antimicrobials (wring-outs) or silver dressings

Discuss
surgical plan
- >1-week, hyper-adherence may occur and cause bleeding upon removal
- Re-excise as needed, apply autograft or reapply PermeaDerm if further temporary coverage required
