THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE RECELL® SYSTEM

AVITA Medical’s first product, the RECELL® System, is a device that enables healthcare professionals to produce a suspension of Spray-On Skin™ Cells using a small sample of the patient’s own skin. This suspension contains the cells necessary to regenerate the outer layer of natural, healthy skin and is prepared and applied at the point-of-care in as little as 30-minutes.

The RECELL® platform aids healing at a cellular level. The cellular solution created through a proprietary enzymatic and mechanical processes of RECELL® overcome the limitations of conventional grafting techniques.

Spray-On Skin™ Cells provide a cellular suspension of three phenotypes: keratinocytes (primary cell of epidermis), dermal fibroblasts (primary cell of the dermis), and melanocytes (responsible for natural pigmentation). These isolated single cells stimulate healing throughout the wound bed rather than being limited to the wound edge.
